If Scheme were a foreign country...
I spent some time there as a student abroad. Long enough so it was a good learning experience, but not enough to really connect with the place. For that matter, I spent a lot of time in my room avoiding getting out and about in it, because I was only just learning how to approach being in a foreign land. Which I regret now, since I know something of its glorious history (going back to the days of Lisp), and really appreciate its founding principles.
Well, at least it helped me later on when I spent time in TCL and even with my adventures in Haskell.
