building d-i

I've been trying for several days to get a clean build of d-i to upload to incoming, but things have been in such flux that the build has broken every day because of something new. Today it was changes in wireless-tools and netcfg that required libiw be pulled into d-i, and evilness in mklibs that "reduced" libiw to a version twice as big that also pulled in all of libm. I hacked around that and got everything fitting on the root floppy again, and I think I finally have things sorted out to make a successful build tomorrow. If nothing changes in between..

d-i sparc is progressingly impressively well. They went from just kernel+busybox working, to it working all the way to debootstrap in one day.

We have still not figured out what to do about partman, but I am leaning toward provisionally making it the default for the next release and seeing what breaks. In retrospect, we should have done that as soon as beta 2 was out the door, as we did with grub. It will have to be decided one way or the other by this weekend.
