how the other 90% lives

Just got off the phone with my Dad who has a windows machine that I guess is chock full of viruses. He described the mouse pointer being freezy and jumpy, which is pretty amazing since AFAIK windows' #1 priority is to keep it moving smoothly. Internet connections stall or die for minutes at a time. The real clincher is that outgoing traffic is significantly higher then incoming traffic. And some odd credit card bills have been happening lately.

Of course we'll be replacing this mess with linux, but I'm just amazed at how badly he's apparently being affected. I assume it must be quite a collection of viruses and other parasites since no single successful parasite should hurt its host that badly.
