Oldenburg

So I'm here at Oldenburg, it's 4 in the morning, and I'm kinda waiting for some more people to go to bed. People bring all kinds of interesting hardware to Oldenburg. A sample of a few tables:

  • A Hewlet Packard Advancestack J2600A, festoned with ThinLan cable, ethernet, and serial, sitting under a monitor, and on top of a VAXstaton 4000. To the side is an Atari TT030. In front of it is an old Sony Vaio notebook.
  • Neat pyramid of an ancient A/B KVM switch on top of a tiny Soekris system, on top of am Epir (?), on top of an unlabled white box.
  • Tiny embedded stack for an architecture I'd never heard of before and have forgotten, next to the thinnest Japanese laptop ever, next to big clunky old laptop sitting nearly on top of another little Japanese laptop, next to a case-less motherboard laid on on the table w/power supply.

Anyway, I'm waiting, because flying in meant I couldn't bring this kind of stuff, and instead I just brought a simple access point, which everyone in the room with a laptop ended up using to get online. But since I'm also busy making d-i run on the access point and install Debian at the same time it's routing that traffic, and since I destroyed its firmware a few hours ago, it's been running ok, but is useless for development until I take it down and reflash it.
