Back in the Bay Area, I used to know Seth David Schoen as a smart, articulate guy with a cool beard. Nowadays, he's blowing me away with his eloquence and insights, as exemplified in his history of the DeCSS haiku (which he wrote).

Snow this morning, so I finally got a good hike in the snowy woods. I've also stabalised the problem with my laptop's power cord, so this has been a good day.

Strange stuff in d-i today; it turned out that libm was bloating up to 15 kb on the root floppy because wireless-tools was added to the net_drivers floppy and the library reduction took that into account. Rebuilding the wireless-tools-udeb to use its own internal math code instead of libm's not only reduced libm back to a 1k stub library, but it shrank the iwconfig binary some 12k. Puzzling, but I'm not complaining. Except that glibc is a bloated pig, and we really should move to uclibc eventually, before this floppy fills up for good.

llrd is indeed nice, although I'm not sure if exporting you entropy pool size to the world by default is a good thing.
