The first hints of d-i began here. I took a nasty little shell script that used to be part of the boot-floppies and tried to make it into something a) not nasty and b) somewhat user friendly. A big improvement for its time, but it's now been lapped by d-i and is showing its age, and I hope to get rid of it soon.

One of the things that strikes me about base-config is that unlike pretty much all the software I've discussed before, I don't have any proprietary feelings about it. It's just a peice of software we need, which I happened to write.
