[whatever I usually put here]

I seem to be more inclined to blog when I'm doing a lot of coding, or just bored than when I am experiencing new things and having fun. So little blogging so far while I've been in Brazil, but today I managed to buckle down and get some work down, so now I want to write about it.

I'm trying a new method for managing d-i releases, the current method has been to make lots of changes, get something that pretty much worked on i386, copy everything to testing at once, test it more and on other arches and try to get in fixes for the breakage, and then release. After beta4, I relised this was not going to work with 10 arches.

The new plan is to use testing more like it is used for debs; getting individual packages into testing when they are ready. Unfortunalty d-i has some more complex interactions than Debian, and we also have less metadata and worse bug reports to go by so automated propigation is only a dream at this point. To try to manage the complexity of tracking the status of everything, I tried to come up with some criteria to use, and created this page to track the status of everything. It's still complex, but it seems more manaeagable to have it all on one page. Well, we will see how this goes.

Brazil is an experience that I'm very glad that many Debianistas will be able to share.
