4th
I finally checked out the bike trail to downtown, it's a fairly easy ride if you're in shape for biking (I'm not), and a nice trail that I expect I'll use often. I ended up at my mom's, and had green food: Maggie's guacamole, and cookies with (no kidding) basil in them. Not at the same time except in fun, and that was nice.
I don't know if it's possible to get shell shocked from the 4th of July, but my new neighbors are doing their best. I was a bit annoyed at first, and I've really not gotten into the 4th in a long while, and have spent it out at the farm where I'd watch the fireflies and maybe hear a few bottlerockets. But hey, I have many fun memories of the 4th of July, and of doing dumb things with firecrackers, and I don't begrudge the fun. I have to think today of Duke, who died last year, far too young, and who made the 4th when I was a kid. I'll sit out here on the porch and watch a few more fireworks for you.
