power back on
Power failures are much more fun and exciting if they last only a few hours, or at most a day. Not three whole days in the middle of winter. I did a lot of reading (Michener, Jo Walton, and several Heinlein juvies) and learned to cook on a wood stove. The woods were gorgeous with the trees bowed down by all the ice that also knocked down my power lines. Today I was sufficiently tired of reading (and had so little unread material) that I did my tax return instead. Then the power came back on, so I didn't have to deal with another night of it.
I'm quite tired of local security holes in the linux kernel. I hope this recent spate is the result of an audit, and that we will see an end to them soon, and that it's not instead the start of a neverending stream as a rich new vein of problems is uncovered. Wishful thinking?
I'm a hell of a lot more stressed out now than I was for the past three days..
