Some of the big home improvement or electronics stores and small proprietor computer shops carry short (about 6") grounded extensions designed for just that problem. Wish I could find a URL for you, but I've only seen them in the stores.

I've been wondering recently when houses will get 12 VDC outlets in addition to 120 VAC -- that could eliminate wall warts!
