sleep
Well. Night before last I could not get my brain to shutdown, though I tried between 3:30 and 5. Then it got light out, and what was the point? By then I had come up with a plan for how to fix linux-kernel-di, so between 7 and 11 or so, I was ripping the package to bits and reorganizing it. Finally managed to get some sleep between 11 and 3, then I got up and, feeling very tired and out of it at first, cooked for an hour and a half. That was a pretty weird day, but I got out of it with only very minor problems in the reoganised kernel-wedge, and a minor (painless) burn on one finger. While the experiment was thus generally successful, I think I will try to avoid major coding while high on sleep deprivation in the future.
Today I got a good 12 hours sleep but have still been lethargic, thanks to the excesses of yesternight. I made some minor improvements on d-i and possibly fixed the pcmcia-cs installation bug.
On tbm's recommendation, I've read a bit of Greg Egan, and discovered that I had read one of his movels (Diaspora) before. Not too happy with the characters in Permutation City, though the science, metaphysics, and philosophy is fun.
Response to d-i beta 3 has been good, and I'm pleased by how few problems most people have with it, and with how many entirely successful installation reports we've been getting (including one on m68k!). Installation reports are beginning to morph into reports on the second-stage install, which is a good thing. We need to pick the pace back up a bit and get the beta 3 errata fixed soon though.
So far the only really serious new issue that has come to light is that CD mounting in the second stagte is thuroughly b0rked -- with netinst CDs you don't test that. So soon we're gonna have to start testing with full CDs first. Ugh.
Tomorrow: Some hard physical labor for a change.
