Squeeze improves the compatibility, and at this day, I have no more issues with sound (which I solved with your indirect help).

Now, I'm not expert enough to explain what was missing or not, I just guess that the snd-hda-intel is well supported with the current kernel in squeeze.

Still some little glitches (e.g. windows that don't open in the foreground in xfce ? is it only a matter of configuration ? )

but with wifi working, and iceweasel 3.5, it's perfect !
